How can I donate items?

You can donate items at any New Start site. For larger items please drop into your nearest New Start service centre. We also have containers at various recycling sites where items can also be stored. We empty the containers on a weekly basis. We also offer a FREE collection service Monday – Friday.

What happens with my donation?

We work with a range of organisations across Highland to supply household items where required to support people in their tenancy or if they are on a low income. Sometimes a surplus of certain items builds up - these items will be sold in our shops and are available at affordable prices for the communities we serve. This supports New Start's service in Highland, making it available to a wider range of people and also helps prevent items from going to landfill.

What Items do you accept?

We take anything that can help make a house a home, from rugs and carpets to toys. If you are donating anything that has a material section, please check that it has the relevant fire retardant labels as legislation requires that we only re-use such items. We also ask that items donated are in a good condition and ready to be passed on to people and families.

Do you take electrical goods?

Yes, we do. We have an electrical repair workshop that tests all electrical goods and repairs where necessary, thus ensuring that all donated goods carry a 3 month guarantee.

How much notice do you need to collect?

Ideally a week's notice of items for collection. We aim to arrange pick up as soon as possible. The more notice given will enable us to plan collections as efficiently as possible.
